The Brighton Social Infrastructure Plan (BSIP) provides a framework that will support the delivery of appropriate social infrastructure in one of Tasmania’s fastest growing municipalities out to the year 2042. The project team successfully utilised quantitative and qualitative methods to investigate community aspirations, existing assets, demographic trends, challenges and opportunities. The analysis informed the development of strategies and priority actions that respond to existing and projected future social infrastructure gaps. The BSIP will support decision-making relating to future infrastructure investment and the efficient use of limited public resources. By taking a proactive and forward-facing approach, Brighton Council has positioned itself to successfully navigate the challenge of planning for its current and future communities. The judges found the project to be an excellent example of how good planning can translate community aspirations into actions that will support liveable communities.
