DA Planners Forum
Event Overview
Development assessment planners are at the ‘coal face’ of Queenland's planning system and we know DA planners are often under pressure from multiple and competing fronts.
老澳门六合彩图库 acknowledges that DA planners are often tasked with numerous ‘wicked problems’, as they seek to balance interests, many of which are outside of their control. In addition, navigating the full spectrum of our system in times of constant change and policy flux presents ongoing challenges. Add to that are community expectations, the pressures of a performance based system, and lack of planners generally, there is a perfect storm of challenges to overcome.
So, we would like to bring DA planners from across Queensland together to discuss and explore these issues encountered in daily work and build stronger networks and relationships for support across the state.
With no set agenda, we would like to open the forum for attendees to guide the discussion. Topics may include:
- Work pressures such as work/life balance, skills shortages, attracting talent, mental health etc
- Technical issues around legislative changes
- Performance based planning or areas of the planning framework not well understood where more training is needed
- Requires additional supporting evidence
- Scheme structures and approaches to things like thresholds or LOAs
- Mapping discrepancies
- P&E judgements
- Compliance with specific benchmarks and using judgement
- Understanding risk-based planning
- Incentivising development that is needed
- Potential improvements to the system, legislation etc
- General tips and tricks or tools that have been useful and could be shared (such as templates)
- Development that is often difficult to regulate (e.g. sheds being used as houses or “shouses”)
This Forum will be delivered online, via Teams.
