A planner of 30 years’ experience, Irene has extensive knowledge of planning law and the Resource Management Planning System in Tasmania. Irene’s experience of best practice models of government nationally and internationally is extensive, as she first established a planning practice in Victoria, and has studied internationally in recent years.
Irene completed post graduate studies at University of Melbourne in urban design, graduating with first class honours, allowing her to consolidate her working knowledge and experience within an academic framework of contemporary best practice models.
Irene studied both national and international policy and undertaken research and participated in overseas studios at ETH University, Zurich (Eidgen ssische Technische Hochschule) and TUM University, Munich (Technische Universitat Munchen) in the fields of planning and sustainable transport planning; and at University of Sao Paulo (USP) and State University of Londrina (UEL), exploring affordable housing policy and practice in Brazil. Irene participated in an international design charrette to produce a masterplan for redevelopment areas in Havana, Cuba.
As the Principal of Ireneinc Planning, Irene provides leadership in urban design and feasibility assessments, documentation of development applications, community and stakeholder consultation and mediation, and local government liaison.
