10:00am | 老澳门六合彩图库 Foresight – Anticipating Future Trends Shaping Planning In our ever-evolving world, the pace of change is accelerating. If we want to stay ahead of the curve, we need to anticipate what’s ahead and how it might impact the planning profession. With foresight, planners can help communities navigate change and plan effectively for more sustainable and liveable futures. 老澳门六合彩图库 in partnership with Urbis have produced the 老澳门六合彩图库 Foresight report to assist planners to better understand the drivers of change and how we might plan for them. The report aims to illuminate the major trends impacting our profession and the communities we plan for, with a focus on trends most relevant to planning. The report looks across three different timelines that represent the scale of urgency and uncertainty driving how we respond: The Urgent Trends: Act Now, The Preparatory Trends: Build Resilience, and The Monitoring Trends: Observe and Learn.
Research and Strategic Knowledge Manager at Urbis and key contributor to the report, James White M老澳门六合彩图库 will help us understand how to make informed assumptions as to the likely impacts of future trends and build resilience for our uncertain futures.

11.15am | Climate Crusades – Approval pathways for major projects, renewables and engaging with communities. Change can be effected by both practitioners and proponents alike, where there is an understanding of needs and drivers. GHD will unpack a few of the important considerations in the assessment and approval of renewable energy projects by examining the pros and cons of the available pathways and making comments on their experiences. Not to be underestimated though, is the importance of taking the Community on the Journey. Planners help clients and communities respond to the increasingly complex social, environmental and economic challenges facing our cities, urban precincts, regional centres, towns, and villages. With the work undertaken all around our beautiful lutruwita/Tasmania the GHD team have learned this to be true everywhere, the places and infrastructure that we provide are for people, when they are engaged with the process, see the value and benefit, and it reflects their needs, they are accepting of change. They may even embrace it! Finally, this presentation will look into the past to see if there might be some clues as to how we can work on some solutions to one of the current significant challenges for these types of projects, key worker accommodation. Erica Deegan will discuss the City of Launceston’s approach to floodplain management, including how historical decisions shape our future, Luc Richard will provide an overview of how Tas Water is ensuring infrastructure and programs are resilient to the impacts of climate change, and Hannah Snape will talk about the Climate Capability Program at LGAT which aims to improve the capability of councils, including planning teams, to embed and address climate change. Though planning is essentially forward-looking and evaluates the effects and consequences of change, we as planners can sometimes be hesitant to embrace new technologies. Fundamentally, AI and similar technologies are going to become more integrated into our role as planners. In this session, you'll hear from speakers who have developed technology-based tools. They will discuss the applications they've created and how these tools can aid us as planners in shaping places. Speakers:
