Senior Planner
With ongoing expansion locally and nationally, Hames Sharley is in search of talented Senior Planner to work out of our Perth Studio on a either a 12-month contract or in a permanent position. The role of Senior Planner is to enhance the company’s image as a quality service provider of urban development, design and planning throughout the government, institutional, business and commercial sectors.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide professional and technical advice, including preparing planning and policy documents, overseeing graphics and imagery production, and producing high-quality written reports.
- Manage urban development projects, ensuring adherence to project plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Prepare expressions of interest, submissions, proposals, and tenders.
- Lead urban design projects or components under senior staff guidance.
- Develop skills in urban design and planning through seminars and courses.
- Assist in acquiring industry knowledge and mentor junior staff.
- Promote and develop the Hames Sharley brand.
- Ensure effective communication with clients and project teams.
- Utilize project management and quality assurance systems, with training as needed.
To be successful in this role, you should have the below skillset:
- MS Office (required); Adobe InDesign (preferred)
- Ability to work in a collaborative studio environment with planners, urban designers and architects, and align to Hames Sharley’s values.
- Communication techniques to build positive and supportive relationships with clients, colleagues, and the wider urban planning and development community.
- Approach to research, gathering data and engaging to undertake context analysis for projects. Then, how you can distil and add value to this information into high-quality and accurate reports, presentations and plans to assist our with our clients, stakeholders and partners in decision making.
- Understanding of the WA planning framework, with experience applying and interpreting legislation, schemes, strategies, plans and policies in your work.
- Knowledge of project management fundamentals, and how you coordinate work to meet timeframes and budgets (with the support of senior colleagues).
