About the Role
The City of Fremantle is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Strategic Planning Officer. The role provides project leadership and expert technical advice and assistance to the community, external agencies and internal stakeholders for strategic planning matters relevant to Fremantle.
The role assists in creating and reviewing integrated strategic and statutory planning instruments, contributing to a multidisciplinary team, and carrying out community consultation on strategic planning proposals to align with the City’s vision and strategic objectives
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Team Leader Strategic Planning and Heritage in the delivery of strategic planning services including the maintenance of the planning scheme and subsidiary documents to assist in the delivery of Council’s strategic planning objectives.
- Leading and/or assisting multidisciplinary projects and project teams for strategic planning, sustainability, design and heritage matters, including in the carrying out of community consultation exercises
- Assist in strategic studies, conduct research, assemble information and compile reports on strategic planning matters and related issues including design, transport, heritage and sustainability.
- Providing accurate professional advice and liaising with government agencies, other local government authorities, developers, ratepayers, client bodies, internal stakeholders and the general public on planning responsibilities, land use, planning schemes, and other strategic planning matters affecting the City of Fremantle.
- Working with internal departments to assist in achieving positive outcomes throughout the City’s service areas.
To be considered for this position, you will need:
- Strong practical experience in the town planning profession and complex strategic planning matters such as local planning strategy and scheme preparation/review, planning scheme amendments, local structure plans/local development plans, and local planning policy preparation and review.
- Sound knowledge of the operation of a local government authority in regard to town planning matters.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of planning, urban design and sustainability principles and practices.
- Applies high-level strategic thinking, analytical and conceptual skills confidently to projects, tasks and problem-solving situations.
- High-level written, oral communication skills and report-writing skills.
- Demonstrates high-level customer service, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability of working and achieving outcomes consistent with the City’s values of Integrity, Inclusion, Collaboration and Making a Difference.
- Degree or post graduate qualification in town planning and eligibility for membership to the 老澳门六合彩图库.
- Experience with heritage matters including assessments, legislation and procedures is a plus.
